Will, Lucas and I went on our first family vacation on Aug 23-25. It also happened to be Will's birthday weekend! We stayed at a lovely resort in South Lake Tahoe called Lakeland Village Resort. We had a deluxe studio and it was just perfect for us as the room had a fully equipped kitchenette, a really nice convenience when you have a baby. The property itself was clean, staff was friendly, good location (near the beach, downtown, lake) and the amenities were excelled (2 heated pool/jacuzzi, private beach, free shuttle).
We stayed for 3 days and 2 nites and here are some of the trip highlights:
- Lucas' first time at the pool
- Went on the MS Dixie day cruise around Lake Tahoe
- Watched the sunset at Lake Tahoe
It was our first time traveling with a baby and we packed a lot for only 2 nites! The hotel provided us with a portable crib so we did not have to bring ours thus giving us more trunk space for our other stuff.
It was nice to have a kitchen in the room as it gave us the flexibility to eat in. Eating dinner at the restaurant can be a challenge sometimes as Lucas' bedtime is around 7p. We brought our own food and Will made a delicious dinner each night: stuff salmon/ tiger shrimps on day 1 and steak and tiger prawns on day 2.
Lucas did well on the 4 hour trip. On the way there, we stopped at the Folsom outlets about 2 hours into the drive to feed him and rest. Of course I couldn't resist and bought him some clothes at the Carter's outlet. :) He slept the rest of the way there. On the way back home, he pretty much slept the whole time.
All in all, it was a fun trip for the Fungs. :) It was nice to be able to get away to the mountains and enjoy time as a family.
