It was Lucas' first time on a plane. Initially, we are nervous how it would go but it really went great and Lucas was a trouper.
Our red eye flight left at 11p SFO and this was way past his bedtime, he waited patiently at the gate watching airplanes, excited to see it up close. Once we got on the plane, he didn't want to be secured in the seatbelt, but we convinced him otherwise to our relief. As our plane started to taxi down the runway, his closed his eyes and fell asleep, all before take off.
We landed at our layover (cleveland, OH), 4 hours later. Lucas was surprisingly energetic and awake while the rest of us were not (not much sleep). after a breakfast of oatmeal and some eggs, we were back on the final leg to Buffalo, NY. He did wonderful again, however, on the descent, he cried a little due to the ear pressure. I tried to give him water to drink upon landing to help alleviate it but he didn't want it. We tried to distract him which worked a little bit. He stopped crying as the pressure subsided.
We landed in Buff, got our rental car and drove to our final destination == Toronto. It was a 120 min drive and it went pretty smooth. I was glad that Lucas fell asleep right away so he was able to catch up on more sleep.
